Kierkegaard Studies: Yearbook 2009 is comprised primarily of papers delivered at the Kierkegaard Research Centre’s August Research Seminar, which focused on Kierkegaard’s most scholarly work, The Concept of Irony. These articles explore Kierkegaard’s multifaceted understanding of irony, and treat issues ranging from his highly provocative interpretation of Socrates and Socratic irony, to his early assessment of Hegelian thought, to the aesthetic, literary, and religious problems associated with the ironic literature of German Romantics. In addition, Yearbook 2009 includes a series of guest lectures by international scholars on topics that include Kierkegaard and Kant on temporality, and a Kierkegaardian narrative theory of selfhood. Articles are written in English and German.
