The Author

Almut Brandl studied medicine in Freiburg, Germany, where she was born in 1966. She had become acquainted with homeopathy even before beginning medical school, working in the Lahnhöhe Clinic in Lahnstein under the direction of Dr. Max Bruker. From the beginning of her studies she dedicated herself to learning all about classical homeopathy, starting with lectures by Dr. Ulrich Fischer, and then in working groups with other students, or learning from the teachings of the practitioner Bruno Jakobs. She spent some time studying in Sweden, England, and Switzerland, and upon completion of her Ph.D. she worked as house officer in the Children's Hospital in Karlsruhe. From 1996 to 1998 she practiced classical homeopathy at Hof Bellevue, a special clinic for holistic medicine on Fehmarn Island in the Baltic Sea. During this time she earned professional certification in homeopathy, and attended seminars at the International Academy for Classical Homeopathy in Greece with George Vithoulkas, winner of the 1996 Alternative Nobel Prize. From 1998 to 2000 she worked in a hospital specializing in acute-care internal medicine, concentrating on natural therapies and homeopathy. Since the end of 2000 she worked in homeopathic general practice in Altensteig in the northern Black Forest region.

Important inspiration for her work as homeopathic physician came from Anne Schadde (Munich, Germany) and Massimo Mangialavori (Italy). She continues to be thrilled by her own experiences with homeopathy, both as an attending physician and as a patient. With this book, she hopes to lead the way to homeopathic healing for as many people as possible.
